This is a summary of the actions of the Oak Park and River Forest High School Board of Education at its last meeting on Thursday, August 22, 1996. Board Members are President William R. Cragg, Vice President Chester L. Stewart, Secretary Stephen C. Bruner, Gerard M. Jacobs, Nancy Leavy, John R. McCulloh, and Regina Kwan Peterson.

The Superintendent reported: that athletic teams have begun practicing, Deans returned August 21, Division Heads will return on August 26, faculty returns on August 30; and students return on September 3; ACT and SAT scores are the highest in the history of OPRFHS, and IGAP scores are fairly stable with a decrease in reading scores (possibly because of the test as evidenced by talking to other districts with similar results); a Task Force from Chicago dealing with restructuring of education has begun meeting with OPRFHS administrators to obtain ideas; and the $500 in grant funds, earned by Amanda Klonsky as a member of the 1996 Future Leaders of America Program, will be used by the OPRFHS Service Club for their various projects. Don Vogel reported on Summer School 1996 and the Technology project. Scott Hellen, Transitional Counselor of the Department of Rehabilitation, and Diane Booth, Job Coach, explained the Oak Park Hospital Work Experience Program. Dr. Lebrecht presented Fund Balances as of June 30 and July 31, 1996 and showed how closely the FY97 Tentative Budget tracks the Financial Model in revenue and expenditures. Mr. Sye spoke about the College Transcript Summary; reported on Advanced Placement examinations; and presented the Ombudsman Report. |
