This is a sumary of the actions of the Oak Park and River Forest High School Board of Education at its last meeting on Thursday, December 21, 2000.
 
Recognition The Board congratulated faculty member Barb Liles on her selection by the 
Olympic Committee as the “Developmental Field Hockey Coach of the Year.”
 
Board
Actions
approved the consent items: minutes of November 16, December 6, and 14; personnel recommendations; financial reports; and  FDSE actions;

approved the proposed changes for the 2001-02 Academic Catalog as presented;

accepted with gratitude a donation of a 1987 Toyota from Mr. & Mrs. Robert W. Heezen; and from the estate of Mary Elizabeth Gekler, Class of 1940, the following from the years 1935-40: Trapeze, an English manual, GAA Letters, Dance Bids, Memory Book, Oak Park and River Forest High School postcards, and the Story Club Constitution; 

adopted the Annual Tax Levy;

amended Policy 5114, Suspension and Expulsions, as presented;

amended Policy 4310, Sexual and Other Harassment of Employees, as presented;

amended Policy 5310, Sexual and Other Harassment of Students, as presented;

approved Policy 1410, Rental of Facilities, for first reading;

appointed Dr. Stephen E. Lebrecht as designated representative to handle the receiving and filing of nominating petitions for the election of school board members to be held in and for District 200 on April 3, 2001; authority is further given to him to delegate authority to carry out these duties when he is absent; and

appointed Sherlynn Reid, Robert Synechelle, and Martha Tranton to the District 200 Local Ethics Commission for the 2001 calendar year.
 
 

Reports Dr. Bridge reported on the 19th Human Relations Awards Ceremony where 103 students were honored; the breakfasts, lunches, and tours that have taken place and will continue in January for the parents of eighth-grade parents; the January 12 “Pack-the-Place” fundraiser to be sponsored by the PTO/BOOSTERS/APPLE; The Chicago Tribune’s published response to student Alissa Calabrese and its apology to OPRFHS for publishing incorrect test scores; Golden Apple Award nominees Jessica Young, Kevin McCarron, and Joseph Valintis; and the additional Parent/Teacher Conference night on March 1; and the second Parent Visitation Day on March 8.

The Board Members reported on their various Board committee and liaison representative responsibilities.
