This is a sumary of the actions of the Oak Park and River
Forest High School Board of Education at its last meeting on Tuesday,
September 25, 2001.
| Recognition |
- The Board recognized
Charles Bassett and Mary Jo Kuenster as the Volunteers of the
Year for their coordination of the Boosters Campus Planning
Forums last year.

Board
Actions |
- approved the consent
items: minutes of August 15 and 23, 2001; FDSE actions; financial
reports, and the list of activities subject to Policy #5132,
Activity Program;
- approved Policy
6500, Education of Children with Disabilities for first reading;
- certified students
who had met the graduation requirements of the State of Illinois
and District 200 by participating in the 2001 summer session;
- accepted with gratitude
a donation of family portraits and other historical items pertaining
to Oak Park and River Forest High School by Mr. Davis; and a
donation of a computer program by OPRFHS teacher Kathy Tsilimigras
for Pat Olson's EMH and TMH classes;
- approved District's
200 Citizens' Finance Advisory Team (CFAT) membership and charge;
- approved the 2001-02
ISBE's Assurances for District Compliance;
- approved OPRFHS
Huskie Boosters to have a fund raiser to sell bricks imprinted
with the donor's name to be installed in the walkways and other
appropriate places in and about the Stadium; and
approved the personnel recommendations;

| Reports |
Mr. Edgecombe reported
on 1) OPRFHS' response to the national tragedy; 2) the postponement
of both the MSAN National Teachers' Conference and the MSAN National
Student Leadership Conference as a result of disrupted air transportation;
3) OPRFHS' receipt of notification that it has 12 National Merit
semifinalists, six National Achievement semifinalists and two
National Hispanic Recognition semifinalists and will honor these
students at the next Board meeting; 4) Homecoming events; 5) the
Saturday, September 29, 7:00 p.m. OPRFHS vs. Fenwick High School
soccer game "under the lights;" and 6) OPRFHS' Parent
Information Night for parochial and private feeder elementary
schools on October 15 at 7:30 p.m., for Roosevelt Middle school
on October 22, and for Oak Park feeder schools in November.
Mr. Deptuch gave
a summary of the Advanced Placement, ACT, SAT, and PSAE test results.
Dr. Lebrecht reported
on 1) the meeting that was held with the neighbors regarding the
use of lights at the OPRFHS/Fenwick September 29 soccer game;
2) an update of the Community Facility Committee meetings; 3)
textbook and fees; and 4) property acquisition.
Mrs. Stevens introduced
the new director of B.E.A.C.O.N.S. Academy, Esther Leiber; presented
the Tuition Students and Foreign Exchange Students Report; and
along with Jim Wiggins, Rich Perna, and Jim Goodfellow, assisted
by Dr. Carl Spight, presented the 2000-01 Discipline Report.
Mr. Edgecombe presented
the Probationary Teachers by Division and Department.
The Board Members reported on their various Board committee and
liaison representative responsibilities.
