At a special meeting last evening, the Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 School Board approved the appointment of Dr. Gwen Walker-Qualls as interim director of Pupil Personnel Services, which oversees Special Education and Health Services. Dr. Walker-Qualls is completing her eighth year as a school psychologist at the high school. She also serves as the director of summer school. Prior to coming to OPRFHS, Dr. Walker-Qualls worked for Chicago Public Schools for 19 years, first as a special education teacher, then a school psychologist.
The appointment of an interim director was necessitated by the resignation of assistant superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services Dr. Tina Halliman, who accepted the position of superintendent of Cook County School District 130 in Blue Island, Ill. Her last day with District 200 was May 23, 2014.
Dr. Walker-Qualls’ appointment is effective immediately.
