Coach Peter Quinn named to IHSA Swimming and Diving Coaches Hall of Fame

Alumnus, English teacher, and 20-year swim coach Peter Quinn will be inducted into the IHSA Swimming and Diving Coaches Hall of Fame at the IHSA All-State Banquet in March. Quinn served as OPRF swim coach from 1992 through 2012. 
 
A 1983 graduate of OPRF, Quinn was an All-State and All-American swimmer and water polo player and the 1983 state champion in the 100 freestyle. He held the school record for the 100 Freestyle for 31 years. Upon graduation, Quinn attended the University of Wisconsin and in 1984 qualified for the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 200-meter freestyle.
 
Quinn returned to OPRF in fall 1992 as an assistant swim coach and was named head varsity coach in 1994. He concluded his career as head coach with an overall dual meet record of 65 and 42. In addition, he earned eight sectional coach of the year awards. His teams earned four conference championships and four state meet top ten finishes including the only OPRF Boys State Swimming Championship, in 1998.
