Oak Park and River Forest High School is proud to announce that 17 of our students have placed as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists in the 2012-2013 program. The National Merit semifinalists in this 58th annual scholarship program are among 16,000 academically talented students named nationally who represent less than 1 percent of the nation’s high school seniors. About 1.5 million juniors from 22,000 high schools nationwide entered the 2013 program seeking to qualify by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The Oak Park and River Forest High School National Merit semifinalists this year are: Eigen Aoki, Louis Blankemeier, Ricardo Castaneda, Jack Cramer, Scott Daniel, John Davis, Will Drickey, Emilia Floody, Benjamin Levin, John Martin, Rucha Mehendale, Elliot Mertz, Maya Rawal, Lauren Richardson, Leah Sacks, Cody Stocker, and Ruth Whittaker.
Of 168 Illinois schools with students participating in the 2012-2013 program, OPRF had the seventh highest number of National Merit semifinalists. Schools with more semifinalists this year are the Illinois Math and Science Academy, Hinsdale Central and New Trier (tied), Neuqua Valley, Adlai Stevenson, Naperville Central, and Benet Academy and Loyola Academy (tied).
