Graduation-attire runoff poll

March 20, 2016

An update about the graduation-attire survey from Principal Rouse:

Dear Class of 2016,

Thank you to all the seniors who took the time to vote in the poll regarding graduation attire. Overall, 442 out of 805 seniors voted (55% of the class), with the following results:

●      184 voted for caps and gowns (41.6 %)
●      134 voted for white formal dresses/skirts or suits + dark formal dresses/skirts or suits (30.3%)
●      124 voted for the traditional white or dark attire (28%)

Students are clearly expressing a desire for change. However, while we had hoped to use the survey input to make a final decision this week, the administration is concerned that none of the options garnered at least 50% of the votes.

In order to be sure that the final choice reflects more than half the votes cast, we will hold a runoff vote between the top two choices from the poll. The runoff vote will open next week on Monday, March 21, at 7:00 a.m. and remain open through Wednesday, March 23, at 4 p.m. Again, this will be an online poll accessible only through your student email address, to ensure that only one vote per senior is counted.

We will announce a final decision next Thursday, March 24.
