High school on soft lockdown until further notice

June 28, 2017

All 10:25 a.m. and other summer school classes are canceled today. All camps not in session at the time of lockdown (approximately 9:30 a.m.) are canceled today.

The high school is on soft lockdown, effective immediately and until further notice. Several administrators received a threatening email, and the police are on site determining whether this is a credible threat. “Soft lockdown” means that no one is allowed to enter or leave the building. Students and outdoor campers are being held in classrooms, and hallway passes are not permitted. Our 10:25 and all afternoon summer school classes are canceled. All summer camps for the rest of the day, including those held outside, later in the afternoon, etc., are canceled.

Parents and guardians should not come to the high school. We are not releasing any students or campers until the soft lockdown has ended. Parents and guardians may go to Ridgeland Common to wait to be allowed on campus when students are released.

We understand that this situation will cause a tremendous amount of anxiety for families. Please know that our first priority is to keep your children and our staff safe. We will share additional information as we are able.
