Outstanding Improvement Recognition
This honors students who have increased their grade point average by 1.0 or more from the end of the second semester last year (2013-2014) to the end of first semester this year (2014-2015). This award is our way of acknowledging the ongoing hard work, effort and commitment these students have made to significantly improve their grades.
Human Relations Award
In spring 1981, faculty members of Oak Park and River Forest High School met to explore a way to both encourage and recognize student behavior that promoted good human relations within the school and the community. From that informal meeting was born the Human Relations Award. It was first presented to 120 students on February 4, 1982. Since that time the faculty, staff, and administration have paused to recommend and honor those students who positively affect our school culture through their interpersonal actions with others, regardless of race, ethnic or socioeconomic background, physical or academic ability. It is to this ideal of valuing and respecting others that the Human Relations Award was conceived and dedicated.
