Out of 11 OPRF wrestlers who qualified to compete for individual titles at the IHSA individual state tournament this past weekend, nine took home All-State Medals. Setting an IHSA record for top-three finishes, three Huskies won championship titles, with five more placing as runner up or third.

State Champions:
Jason Renteria, 120 lbs
Isaiah White, 160 lbs
Allen Stallings, 220 lbs

Anthony Madrigal, 126 lbs
Jaime Hernandez, 138 lbs

Third Place

Rolliann Sturkey, 170 lbs

In addition, Peter Ogunsanya and Kendale McCoy gave tremendous efforts though they did not place.

Nine total state placers is close to the IHSA record of 10, set by the 2014 Huskie wrestling team.

This week the Huskies will turn around and wrestle for the IHSA Dual Team Sectional and State Championships.  Tuesday OPRF competes at Larkin High School in the sectionals. On Saturday the Huskies wrestle three duals in Bloomington, Ill., to determine the IHSA Dual Team State Champion.
