At its regular meeting this evening, the Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 School Board approved the hiring of David Ruhland as its new director of human resources. Ruhland currently serves as director of employee engagement for Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
Mr. Ruhland began his career in human resources in 1995, as director of HR for the Bay City Public Schools in Bay City, Mich. Prior to joining CPS last July, he spent 11 years with Farmington Public Schools, in Farmington, Mich., first as assistant superintendent, human resources/legal services, then as associate superintendent, instructional support services.
Prior to entering the field of education, Ruhland, who holds a juris doctor degree, also worked as an engineer at General Motors and as a partner in a Bay City law firm.
“David brings a wealth of experience in regards to human resources and operations,” said Superintendent Dr. Steven Isoye. “He is a people- and service-oriented leader who understands schools. On top of his leadership capabilities and extensive HR background, he brings his experience as an attorney. I am very excited to have him join our team.”
Ruhland will assume his position with the District effective May 5, 2014.
