This Thurs., Oct. 10 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., the OPRF music program presents its annual Huskie Music Fest, which highlights musical talent from the band, orchestra, choral, and jazz programs.
The fest offers a chance for the community to hear music from all groups and ensembles in one evening, with a series of performances throughout the building. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Funds raised will be used to support scholarships for students in the OPRF music program, which is recognized for its outstanding talent. Two years ago, Orchestra and the Jazz Ensemble were selected to perform at the Illinois Music Educator’s Association (IMEA) annual convention in recognition of their musical achievements. More than 20 OPRF students are selected annually to perform at the district and state level for the IMEA competition in band, orchestra, choral, and jazz ensembles. In addition, the Jazz Ensemble has placed first at the Mundelein Jazz Festival and has been the recipient of Honor Band the past two years at the Purdue Jazz Festival.
