Statement regarding teacher arrest

December 15, 2015

On Monday, December 14, 2015, English teacher Jay Lind was arrested and charged with 13 felony counts involving sexual misconduct with a minor. Lind has been on administrative leave since Oct. 1, 2015, after school officials were informed of allegations of misconduct between Lind and a student.  When the allegations were reported, school officials immediately reported the information to the Department of Children and Family Services and placed Lind on leave.  The matter has been under investigation by Oak Park and Chicago law enforcement authorities since that time.

Faculty and staff should direct any students who want to discuss this issue or need support to speak with their counselors or one of our social workers. Parents and guardians also are encouraged to call their student’s counselor or one of our social workers with any questions about how to provide support at home.

Any other inquiries should be directed to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office or the Chicago Police Department.  The district will not issue any further statements concerning this matter.
