District administrators presented a final draft of the strategic plan to the Board of Education at its regular monthly meeting on June 27, 2013. The plan represents the culmination of a process begun in October 2012, when Oak Park and River Forest High School began engaging the local community in strategic planning. The planning was led by consultant Dr. Allan Alson and a steering committee comprising approximately 60 members, who represented a broad array of stakeholder groups. The goal was to create a five-year plan with long-term goals aimed at helping all students achieve their full potential.
Drafts of the plan were reviewed by Steering Committee and Task Force members on June 10 and 17. Revisions were made based on feedback from those meetings, resulting in the plan that was presented to the Board on June 27. The Board will engage in a retreat to review and discuss the plan on Tuesday, July 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Board Room. The retreat is open to the public.
