Teacher Octavius Bellamy wins bronze at world wrestling competition

September 21, 2012

Congratulations to Octavius Bellamy, who teaches English in the special education department and yesterday won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2012 Veterans World Championships, being held in Budapest, Hungary. He went 3-1, wrestling all four matches in one day.

This tournament is essentially the world championships for men in Mr. Bellamy's age group (he competes in the 35- to 40-year-old category). He competed in the same tournament last year and after not performing as well as he wanted, decided to dedicate himself to training and bringing home medals this year. Mr. Bellamy will compete in the Freestyle portion of the tournament this Sunday, September 23. For more information on Mr. Bellamy's win, click here
