All-Alumni are Welcome to events over Homecoming Weekend
All alumni are welcome to join the fun and celebrate Homecoming at OPRFHS the weekend of Saturday, October 9, 2010. In addition to a number of CLASS REUNIONS that weekend, several other activities and events will take place.
FRIDAY, October 8 - the Huskie Block Party begins at 5:00 PM on the Mall (behind the school) and includes concessions, activity booths, a Powder Puff Football game at 6:30 PM and concludes with a PEP RALLY in the Field House.SATURDAY events include:
- Complimentary Coffee and Donuts in the Welcome Center from 8:30 to 10:00 AM
- TOURS of the school beginning around 9:15 AM (meet in the Welcome Center)
- the ALUMNI LUNCH SOCIAL beginning at 11:30 AM on the mall (indoors in case of bad weather)
- Varsity FOOTBALL game against Morton with kick-off scheduled for 1:30 PM
Reservations are not necessary for these events though advance notice is appreciated. Further details and reservation information will be posted on the website soon. Reunion committees in particular are encouraged to poll those attending reunion events for their interest in these activities. NOTE: The All-Alumni After-Party BASH as previously announced will not take place. The event at Doc Ryan's that was to take after the various class reunion festivities has been CANCELLED. At this time we do not have information about any sort of alternative event that may be arranged.
Come to the 5th Annual ALUMNI LUNCH SOCIAL
The Alumni Association hosts the ALUMNI LUNCH SOCIAL on Saturday, October 9 in conjunction with the school as a way to WELCOME ALL ALUMNI for a casual picnic style lunch and provide a chance to sit and visit with classmates. We'll be out on the Mall behind the school, just north of the Stadium serving a picnic style lunch and special activities for the kids (indoors in case of rain) Lunch includes a hot sandwich (such as your choice of burger, grilled chicken, bbq, hot dog etc) with a bag of chips and your choice of soft drink. Price will be approx. $7.00 - or make a $20 tax-deductible membership donation and we'll include your lunch! Advance purchase will be available - watch for details on the website and in the next E-Bulletin.
ALUMNI GENEROSITY IS OVER PAR – The Alumni Association held its First Annual GOLF OUTING on Wednesday, June 30 at Glen Eagles Country Club in Lemont. We appreciate the generous support we received from our Hole Sponsors - a complete list will be forthcoming. Thank you to everyone who participated including those who golfed and those who provided raffle prizes and other donations. Our fund for Summer Enrichment Grants is well on its way to being replenished for next year!

Whittier Class of '69

We have just received a very generous donation from the CLASS OF 1979 - THANK YOU so very much! We appreciate the support we receive from Reunion Committees who donate their reunion proceeds to us. These donations support the Alumni Association as we help OPRFHS alumni keep in touch through our newsletters, e-bulletins and website as well as supporting current students through the Summer Enrichment Grant program. Thanks also to the Classes of 1969, 1974 and 1984 for your generous support in 2009-2010.
Last year, the Alumni Association received donations from the Classes of 1947, 1958, 1968, 1973, 1978 and 1988. Thank you to everyone in these classes for supporting us, with special thanks to the reunion committee members for all their efforts.

2010 Summer Enrichment grants
We saw an increase in the number of applicants for enrichment grants this spring, and thanks to our very generous donors and members, we have increased our allocation from $15,000 to nearly $18,000 to assist 32 OPRFHS students participate in exciting academic programs. These include an OPRFHS trips to Tanzania, Costa Rica and the Smokey Mountains plus a wide variety of other courses. For the summer of 2009, the Alumni Association provided a total of $14,900.00 in financial assistance to 20 students who attended various programs including OPRFHS Field Science courses in Arctic Ecology and Marine Biology, courses at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Film Institute, and many others. We had a chance to meet many of these students and hear all about their wonderful experiences at the reception we hosted in October for the students and their families. The AlumNews newsletter that we send three times per year to our donor members is produced by Steve Dienberg '77 of Dienberg Printing in Oak Park, (708) 244-0371. DIENBERG PRINTING has been doing the printing of our AlumNews for several years and they do a beautiful job, with Deborah (Karpus) Fitzgerald '72 providing typesetting/layout services. They printed our Fall 2009 issue at no cost to us, saving us a considerable sum that will go towards our Summer Enrichment Grant program. DOOPERfest – a benefit concert extravaganza was held on Friday, October 9 featuring some the greatest OPRFHS alumni rock and roll bands - the SARF's, Jade 50's, Pezband, Cliff Johnson '70, Off Broadway, Joe Cantafio '73 & the 101st Rock Division and students in the OPRFHS choir, band & orchestra. WOW! What a great show - the DOOPERS still know how to ROCK THE HOUSE! Many thanks to all the musicians, emcees, light, sound & stage crew members and the staff at OPRFHS.
Past Reunion Events
HOMECOMING 2009 wasSATURDAY, OCTOBER 3 and it was a beautiful day for everyone including the Reunion Classes of '99, '89, '84, '79, and '69. Reunions for the Classes of 1974, 1959, 1954, and 1944 took place at various other dates in this fall.
MANY MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ON THE REUNION COMMITTEES. Thanks as well to the wonderful OPRFHS Staff and Students who helped make these events special for those who visited the high school.
