THURS. JUNE 17 - 7-9 p.m., Follow-up to Teen Alcohol Substance Use Forum, Room 370 (Enter through Main Entrance; take stairwell across from Welcome Center to 3rd floor. Walk straight through double doors to just past corridor to the right). The meeting will start in Room 370, with working groups forming into four general committees (Parent Communications, Student Communications, School Policy Recommendations and Actions and Community Projects), that will eventually begin laying the foundation for next steps in addressing community and school teen alcohol and substance use issues.
Mission : The mission of the Citizens’ Council, established by Board of Education Policy 1420, is to encourage community and parent awareness and understanding of school issues and needs. The forum provides for an interchange of ideas between members of the Council and the Oak Park and River Forest High School administration. The Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Education and is available to the Board for discussion and study. Membership :
Members are chosen for their genuine interest in the community and school affairs. Every attempt will be made to include people of varied economic status, races, religious preferences, age and location. If you have interest in obtaining more information, please contact one of the Citizens Council Co-Chairs or a current member.
The Council typically meets the second Thursday of every month from September through April or May. Dates and topics are listed below. Approved minutes are available by contacting the officers below. Citizens’ Council meetings are open to the public; however, visitors are respectfully asked to refrain from comment during the meeting unless invited to participate by the Council.
