Parent Pledge

Parents Make a Difference

Research shows that parents have a big influence on their teen’s decisions about alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drug use. Although it may not always seem like it, your teen notices what you say and do about alcohol and drug use.

The OPRF Prevention and Wellness Program invites you to sign the Prevention and Wellness Parent Pledge. We invite you to join other OPRF parents and families in promoting a healthy lifestyle for youth by supporting youth to be alcohol-free and drug-free. When you sign the Prevention and Wellness Parent Pledge, your name and contact information will be added to our annual Parent Pledge Membership Directory so other parents and families know you are committed to providing an alcohol-free and drug-free environment for youth.

For more information, please see our recommended resources below or contact Prevention and Wellness Coordinator, Ginger Colamussi, at gcolamussi@oprfhs.org.

Prevention and Wellness Parent Pledge

I pledge to support my youth and youth in my community to be alcohol-free and drug-free. Specifically, I pledge:

Talk the Talk

  • I will set clear rules and expectations for my youth to not use alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs.
  • I will discuss with my youth the risks of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs.
  • I will discuss with my youth where they are going, whom they are with, what their plans are, and when they are to return home.

Walk the Walk

  • I will actively supervise all gatherings or parties of youth in my home or on my property.
  • I will not serve or allow the possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs by youth in my home or on my property.
  • I will secure and monitor any alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription medications in my home or on my property so it cannot be accessed and misused by youth.

I will inform my youth that I signed the Prevention and Wellness Parent Pledge. I agree to allow my name and contact information to be published in the annual Parent Pledge Membership Directory on the OPRF website.
