NoodleBib and EasyBibInteractive Online Source Citing Tools
OPRFHS subscribes to EasyBib(Bib4School) and NoodleBib(Version 6), two interactive web-based citing tools, available to students in school and off campus. EasyBib and NoodleBib make it easier to create citations for the resource materials used in assignments and research projects. Both online tools help students create and print either a Works Cited list based on the current MLA Handbook or a References list based on the current APA Publication Manual. Access to
NoodleBib Go to NoodleTools at http://www.noodletools.com To create one or two
citations: If you only need one or two “quick” citations, you can select NoodleBib Express –listed under “Free Tools.” Without logging in you can easily generate one or two citations, then copy and paste them into your document. You can choose either MLA or APA style. To create and save a list of citations: If you want to create and save a list of several citations, you first need a personal folder. Under “Subscription Tools,” select NoodleBib6. At the personal folder login, you can create a
new folder or open an existing personal folder. To open an existing
personal folder, you must remember your personal username and password. If
you choose to create a new folder, you automatically go to the new user
registration screen. At that point you need to indicate the type of
account you want to create. Click on
“an account linked to the school’s subscription.” The username and password
are provided on the blue handouts
available in the library.
(This username and password are intended for use only by OPRFHS faculty, staff and students.) Next you will create your personal ID and password. You will need both in order to access your saved work. Note: NoodleBib does not check your spelling. Access to
EasyBib Go to EasyBib at http://www.easybib.com EasyBib is free if you only want to use the MLA format. However, if you want to use EasyBib and also have the option of using APA style format, you must pay for MyBibPro or as an OPRFHS student you can use Bib4School at no cost. To create a new account, first select
Bib4School on the top right to begin the process. Then to open the
account, assign it a username and password of your choice. Next you must
enter the school code. The school code is provided on the blue handouts
available in the library. (This school code is intended for use
only by OPRFHS faculty, staff and students.) After you have created your personal account
you can simply login at anytime using your username and password. You can
save bibliographies and return to them for revision and
editing. Bib4School has two special features: InstaCite for citing books, and JournalCite citing journal articles. Just type in the title or author of your source, and Bib4School pulls up a list of records that match your query. Select the right one, then inserts it into your bibliography automatically. That's all there is to it! However, be sure you have an exact match before you proceed.
Note: Bib4School does check your spelling. Good luck. Come to the library and the Huskie Hub if you need help. September, 2006 MAD
