Battle of the Bands
Model UN is holding a benefit concert for Invisible Children on Friday night in the Student Center from 7:00-9:30 p.m. Five student bands will be playing. Admission is $5. Come have fun and support a great cause.
Congratulations
Congrats to the girls’ volleyball team. They beat the St. Ignatius Wolfpack in three tough games to advance to the Sectional Finals. They will now play Lyons Township on Thursday at De La Salle HS @ 7pm for the Sectional title. If victorious, they will advance to the Supersectionals on Saturday. Come on out to the Southside to cheer on your Huskies!
Sports Team Manager
All current sport team managers and students interested in becoming a manager for an athletic team please come to an informational meeting Thursday 3:15 p.m. in Room 174. Please see Ms. Sakellaris in the Athletic Office with any questions.
Invisible Children
During lunch periods on Thursday, November 6 and Friday, November 7, please visit the Model UN tables outside of the South Cafeteria to have your hands traced. For $1.00 you can show your support in an effort to stop child warfare worldwide. All proceeds will go to the Invisible Children cause. (J. Silver)

Attention sophomores, come check out your class shirts! They will be on sale all week during lunch periods. The cost is $10. We have all sizes!
Spoken Word Showcase
Get your tickets for the November 6 showcase from Mr. Kahn asap, they are selling fast. (P. Kahn)
Studio 200 Auditions!
The 2nd Quarter Studio 200 show auditions are this week! The play is Sympathetic Magic, written by Lanford Wilson and directed by Connor Stratton. Auditions are today after school, and callbacks will be Thursday, so sign up outside Studio 200! No experience necessary.

Come to an ASPIRA today after school in Ms. Diaz’ room, 385 and be a part of the fun.
BOSS Organization
A brief but important officer meeting Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m. in Mr. Vance’s room to discuss Friday’s meeting agenda.
Attention Photo Club Members
We are meeting today after school in the photo lab room 334 at 3:15 for about an hour. We are going to demonstrate special effect printing techniques. We will continue printing the postcard images for the fundraiser with Environment Club. See you there.

All students are invited to come to Student Council tonight. We will be discussing recycling, t-shirts, volunteer opportunities and more! Come have a say in your school.
ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT/SCHOLARSHIPS/OPPORTUNITIES
ACT Test
ACT Test is being administered at OPRFHS on December 13. The deadline to register is November 7, Pick-up a registration packet in the counselor’s offices or apply on-line.
SAT I & II
The SAT I & II is being administered at OPRFHS on December 6. The deadline to register is November 5, 2008. Pick-up a registration packet in the counselor’s offices and apply on-line.
SPORTS CORNER
Freshman Boys’ Basketball
Reminder to all freshman boys trying out for basketball - tryouts begin Mon. Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the field house. You must have a “blue card” from the athletic dept. in order to tryout. Any questions, see Coach Lohnes.
Boys’ Cross Country
Our post season meeting is today at 3:15 p.m. in the Monogram Room. Bring your uniform and sweats. Also, vote for MVP and plan our banquet. (Coach Sosa)
Co-Ed Badminton Intramurals
Sign up will take place through Thursday Nov. 6 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in the field house. Bring ID and $10. Intramurals will meet on most Monday and Thursdays.
Girls’ Gymnastics
Open gym through at 3:30 p.m. Anyone with any gymnastics experience is encouraged to come by, meet the coaches and workout. Please dress appropriately. You must have a current physical on file and any required paperwork from the Athletic Office. Tryouts are Nov. 10-12 from 3:30-600 p.m.
Varsity Boys’ Basketball
Any junior or senior interested in trying out for the varsity boys’ basketball team should attend open gym next week after school. Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 10. Each interested player must have an updated physical on file and the required paperwork from the Athletic office completed and turned in. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Maloney in room 350.
Winter Basketball Intramural
Sign up for Basketball Intramurals starting today in the 3 south gym from Nov. 3 thru Nov 14. Students need $10 and student ID to register. (R. Baker)
