We will introduce climbing and high ropes along with other climbing opportunities in our climbing gym. This club is a great if you enjoy meeting new people while learning/improving your climbing skills. There is no experience needed, we can teach you everything you need to know!

Best Buddies
The mission of Best Buddies is to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships. OPRF has a very active high school chapter of the international organization providing organized field trips, parties and events that allow friendships to flourish. The chapter has fun in and out of school.

Business Club is a student lead group that will use real life marketing strategies to improve awareness about programs and events in the High School and local community. Building business knowledge via real world hands on experience is the goal of this group. Chemistry Club
Chemistry Club is designed to expose students to chemical concepts, chemistry careers, and real-world applications using experiments, demonstrations and discussions. Color Guard/Flags
The Color Guard is a co-curricular, all-volunteer marching unit that performs at all home football games, the homecoming parade, marching festivals and local parade events. Our performances feature a central “show theme” that combines music, movement and visual elements in a production that is unified around a central theme. “We are all born beautifical, we are all creative, our face is our canvas, experiment and practice” is the Cosmetology Club’s motto as we focus on promoting positive self-image while exploring the field of cosmetology. Ethics Bowl
The National High School Ethics Bowl and the regional ethics bowls supports are competitive yet collaborative events in which students discuss real-life ethical issues. Teams take turns analyzing cases about complex ethical dilemmas and responding to questions and comments. An ethics bowl differs from a debate competition in that students are not assigned opposing views; rather, they defend which position they think is correct, provide each other with constructive criticism, and win by demonstrating that they have thought rigorously and systematically about the cases and engaged respectfully and supportively with all participants. This club teachers and promotes ethical awareness, critical thinking, civil discourse, civic engagement, and an appreciation for multiple point of view.

Freshman Class Council
Freshman Class Council is a club for all freshman at OPRF (Class of 2027). It is a leadership, spirit and service club. We work to build skills to create our leaders of tomorrow. Many of these students are in leadership positions in other clubs, activities and athletics as upperclassmen. We fully participate in all the spirit activities at the High School, and run several community service events throughout the year. Most notably is our Spring Food Drive to support our local food pantry. Last year we raised over $10,000!

Community work and building through design. Our goals are to expose students to various different forms of digital art, and enable them to create whatever they want to in whatever said art form they choose. OPRF Hip Hop Club this year will focus on community building. Hip Hop is a culture steeped in rich tradition of Mc’ing, dancing, DJ’ing, producing, performing, and communicating. The OPRF History Club is open to ALL students. If you are interested in exploring historical events, people, changes over time, and the relevance of these events to the present day, then History Club is right for you! Whether you enjoy just listening and learning or hymning into historical discussions, History Club is the perfect place. Students will participate in discussions, hear from guest speakers, have options to go on field trips when possible, and learn from one another’s ideas, experiences, and stories. Over the past three years, we have covered such topics as the history of many federal holidays, Black Panthers, Rome, World Wars, 21st Century black fashion designers, disability rights, elections and impeachments, and much more. Usually Spirit Council focuses on spirit at sporting events. We focus on the themes for the games and having the best student section. HYPE (Healthy Youth Peer Educators)
HYPE is a peer educator program where students model a healthy lifestyle and teach other students how to enjoy wellness. HYPE leads interactive class workshops and fun school wide activities and events to promote wellness. HYPE topics include developing healthy habits, the effects of substance use, healthy stress management, and how to help a friend. Students can volunteer to help with HYPE activities and events throughout the year. Students can also apply in the spring to be peer educators in HYPE next school year.

The International Club explores cultures and countries from around the world. In the student-run, student-led JSA, participants learn how to engage civilly in political discourse. They cultivate democratic leadership skills, challenge one another to think critically, advocate their own opinions, develop respect for opposing views and learn to rise above self-interest to promote the public good. As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, JSA is committed to developing a diverse, cross-section of young leaders for a democratic society. JSA is open to ALL students.

OPRF main stage productions are housed in our Little Theatre. We offer four (4) separate productions per year with auditions in September, October, December and March. No experience necessary to audition.

Marching Band
The Marching Huskies is a co-curricular, all-volunteer marching unit that performs at all home football games, the homecoming parade, marching festivals and local parade events. Our performance features a central “show theme” that combines music, movement and visual elements in a production that is unified around a central theme. Each performance is an exciting and powerful representation of what we do daily during our rehearsals. You must sign up by filling out a Google form and waiver. You will not be allowed to participate without this waiver. As a freshman or sophomore, you must be enrolled in a curricular must class to be involved in this ensemble. Any Junior or Senior with a major conflict to include a curricular ensemble in their schedule can still participate with Director’s approval. Anyone that is interested in the frontline and color guard can join without restrictions.

Math Team
A Math Team is a group of students who study or compete together in mathematics competitions. A few of the more popular contests in which math teams complete at the North Suburban Math League (NSML), American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), and West Suburban Math League. We have five online competitions with various northern Illinois suburban school Districts, a conference meet and a state competition. Students will take the American Mathematics Competition and beyond. Students will also build friendships and learn about mathematics outside the classroom.

Med Club (HOSA)
In Future Medical Leaders of America, you will have the opportunity to engage in many fun medical activities such as reviewing and discussing medical-mystery case studies, learning about and watching surgeries, learning about different pathways and advice from guest speakers for getting into the medical field, and gaining lots of exposure and other opportunities that are not otherwise available in this school. We will also be incorporating the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) curriculum into our meetings and working to create an OPRF Chapter! Anyone can come to this club, as no experience/previous knowledge is necessary. Learn as we go!

Mock Trial
Mock Trial was designed to give students a hands-on courtroom experience. Students serve as lawyers and witnesses, competing against other schools’ teams in trial competitions. Mock Trial is great for those interested in law, argument, theatre, and debate. The Mock Trial team represents the high school at the Illinois State Bar Association’s Mock Trial tournament in Springfield each spring.

International Thespian Society Troupe 5405 is an honor society for students involved in all areas of theatre, technical theatre, musical theatre, speech, broadcasting, and dance. Students participate in the annual High School Theatre Festival, One Acts Festival, and various field trips and service activities. The One-Act show is performed in the Spring. Tryouts are required. The performance consists of several One-Acts to entertain and inspire the audience.

Science Olympiad is an interscholastic competitive team. We compete in 23 events in all areas of science: life science, physical science, engineering, and science practices. Operation Snowball is a weekend retreat sponsored by OPRFHS faculty, staff and student leaders. Sports Medicine Club
Sports Medicine Club will meet once a month and we will discuss topics related to sports medicine. For instance, we talk about injury prevention, heat illness, treating injuries, rehabilitating injuries, sports nutrition, and more. Additionally, when safe, students can apply to be student assistants in the athletic training room during a designated sport season. These students help with keeping athletes hydrated, practice first aid, taping, and rehabilitation skills, and shadow the sport fields… or just to try something new!

Studio 200
The Studio 200 Student Directing Program is a unique program at OPRF. Each school year, we select four seniors to direct full-length productions. Student directors select their plays (approved by faculty advisors), interview production staff, conduct auditions, present technical ideas to scenic design class, and follow a four-and-a-half week rehearsal process that results in full-length performances.

Synchronized Swim
The Synchronized Swim Team season extended from January-May. This team is a co-curricular activity where members combine their swim and dance skills to perform synchronized swim routines to music. The season builds up to a showcase of routines to a theme chosen by the team. Routines are choreographed mostly by students with a full group opening and closing number choreographed by the coaches. New members are also highlighted in their own routine. We encourage you to come and try us out to see if we are the right fit for you!

Youth Action & Civics Club (YAC)
YAC is a club that is designed to promote civic engagement among youth. The non-partisan club creates and takes advantage of opportunities for students to get involved in local and national politics, whether it is organizing a protest, registering people to vote, becoming an election judge, or phone banking for political candidates. We also will engage in weekly discussion about current political and social events. Our goal is not to promote or push a political ideology or agenda, but to provide opportunities for students to engage with each other in a safe and supportive environment, learn about the political process and differing perspectives, and develop their own activist voices.
