Summer 2018 Enrichment Grant Scholarship Recap

2018 Japan Exchange - OPRFHS students visit a Japanese school

Each year, through the generosity of its alumni, the Alumni Association awards Summer Enrichment Grant scholarships on behalf of current OPRFHS students to help them participate in exciting academic enrichment programs over the summer.  Our first year, in 2003, we provided $3,500 to help five students participate in a Tropical Ecology Field Sciences course in Costa Rica. Since that first year, we have awarded over $420,000 on behalf of 503 students.  That includes $60,850 awarded for summer 2018 on behalf of 62 current OPRFHS students.  Your SUPPORT will help fund enrichment opportunities for current students.

On Monday evening, October 29  we hosted our annual Dessert Reception for the 2018 SEG students and their families.  It was a wonderful evening as it gave us an opportunity to meet the students and hear about their adventures - what they learned and the challenges they faced.  They studied dance, music, foreign languages, engineering, humanities and much more.  Many of them had their first experience living on a college campus.  Others on foreign travel programs had the experience of living with a host family. The students learn so much from these experiences and we feel lucky to have played a part.  We've posted some pictures at

For summer 2018, a total of  $60,850 was distributed to these programs on behalf of 62 students. Since our first awards in 2003, more than $420,000 has been distributed on behalf of 503 students.
