Dear OPRF Students, Staff, and Families,
The health and safety of our students and staff is our first priority. We are continuing to closely monitor updates and recommendations from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Currently, there have been no confirmed cases in the school or community nor recommendations to close school.
Our overarching goal is to maintain student learning while also limiting the spread of illness throughout our school community. As a result, we are postponing the following after-school events scheduled for today, March 12:
- Orchestra concert
- Water polo match
- Panache art show at Cheney Mansion
Additionally, the following meetings/events have been cancelled for today:
- Racial equity procedures meeting
- Community Council meeting
- DECA state conference
As you likely are aware, this is a rapidly evolving situation. Therefore, each night, students and staff should take home all computers, chargers, and other belongings needed in the event of an extended school closure.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to keep our students and our community as healthy as possible. We will provide a more comprehensive update tomorrow.
Dr. Joylynn Pruitt-Adams
