In a testament to its commitment to financial transparency, for the 24th consecutive year, Oak Park and River Forest High School has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). The certificate recognizes school districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency.
“I am proud that OPRF, and our business office in particular, continues to be recognized year after year for our efforts to show credibility and transparency in financial reporting to the stakeholders in our community,” said Superintendent Dr. Joylynn Pruitt-Adams. “Earning the Certificate of Excellence for 24 years is an amazing accomplishment and one we are committed to continuing.”
OPRF earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019. “The CAFR informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community,” ASBO International Executive Director David Lewis said in a press release.
The CAFR is submitted for review by a team of financial professionals, who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the CAFR meets the requirements of the program, the document may receive the Certificate of Excellence. A district’s participation in the Certificate of Excellence program can also facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
