The District 200 Board of Education approved the following administrative hires at a special meeting this evening.
Director of Student Services
Ms. Faith Cole
Ms. Cole replaces Ms. Lynda Parker, who has been promoted to assistant superintendent/principal, effective July 1, 2021. Ms. Cole has worked in Oak Park Elementary School District 97 for 17 years, most recently as its director of multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). In this role, she coached principals and MTSS leaders throughout D97 in implementing, improving, and promoting sustainability of the problem-solving process at the school and district levels. Previously, she served D97 as principal of Mann Elementary School, assistant principal at Julian Middle School, lead teacher mentor, and kindergarten teacher at Irving Elementary School.
Director for Student Learning
Ms. Julie Lam
Ms. Lam replaces Dr. Laurie Fiorenza, who has been promoted to assistant superintendent for student learning. Ms. Lam has worked for Community Unit School District 308 in Oswego, Ill., since 2014, currently as assistant principal of curriculum and instruction at Oswego East High School and previously as assistant director of secondary education. She began her education career in 2005 as a high school biology teacher in Chicago Public Schools, prior to teaching at Maine Township East and Downers Grove North. Between working as a classroom teacher and high school administrator, she held educational roles at the Museum of Science and Industry.
Assistant Athletic Director
Dr. Nicholas Browder
Currently the athletic director at Proviso East High School, Dr. Browder has been involved in high school athletics since he began his career as an educator in 2006. Previous roles include athletic director at Argo Community High School and athletic director/assistant principal at Rich Central High School in Matteson, Ill., and Verrado High School in Goodyear, Ariz. He played college football for Valparaiso University, then spent nine years as a professional quarterback in the Arena Football League prior to entering the field of education.
Dean of Students
Ms. Carla Williams
Replacing Brian Beyers, who is moving into the role of division head of physical education, health, and driver education, Ms. Williams has worked at Proviso West High School since 2009. Currently the division head for counseling, special education, and social work, she also has served Proviso West as the counseling lead and school counselor. Her background includes work as a group home supervisor for at-risk youth and a foster care case manager.
