The Learning Development Program focuses on providing students in special education with specialized services and instruction to facilitate their participation in general education courses. A primary goal of this program is to provide students with access to prepare students for life after high school by creating a pathway to post -secondary education.
Specialized instruction is provided in but not limited to instructional and co-taught settings in core areas of Mathematics, English, History, Drivers Education, and Academic Strategies. There are approximately twenty-two teachers in the LD Program. Student placement into this program based on the individualized needs of students with IEP team review of the district special education continuum of services criteria.
Students are encouraged to and supported with participating in extracurricular activities. Participation in extracurricular activities continue to be a way for our students to build peer relationships, promote social-emotional wellness and learning, while fostering leadership skills.
