TEAM students are encouraged to participate in as many extracurricular activities and events as possible to really take part in the high school experience. Based on the student’s interests and hobbies OPRF offers a wide range of clubs, athletics, and events. TEAM staff has accompanied TEAM students to participate in activities and events such as dances, plays, and sporting events. The dances include Homecoming, King of Hearts and the Prom. Our former Adapted PE teacher and Best Buddies Sponsor, Regina Topf, is the new Activities Director! She knows all of our students very well and will love to help us get our TEAM students more involved!

In addition to our growing Special Olympics Basketball teams, we have recently added a SPRING and FALL sport to our Special Olympics menu. Floor Hockey is now offered in the fall and Track and Field is offered in the spring. We have hired on a full staff for each of the three sports. Our incredible state qualifying IHSA Special Olympics Basketball teams begin their season in October and go until March. A schedule of practices and games can be found on the OPRFHS website. Please contact Lauren Arends at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
The mission of Best Buddies is to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships. OPRF has a very active high school chapter of the international organization providing organized field trips, parties and events that allow friendships to flourish. The chapter has fun in and out of school. Please contact Fawn Joyce at email@example.com for more details.
Project Unify *NEW
We are implementing a new program called Project Unify. The junior high schools have implemented this in the last two years, and now we are bringing the program to OPRF! Special Olympics Project UNIFY is an education and sports based strategy powered by an engaged youth community that increases athletic and leadership opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities, while creating communities of acceptance for all. Please contact Lauren Arends at firstname.lastname@example.org more details.
