Summer Opportunities

Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible for the Bobbie Raymond Summer Enrichment Grant. More information about the application process here.

Award Amounts
Individual awards are based on a particular program's cost and a student's financial need. Grant amounts range from $300 to $3,500, with the average amount awarded being $1,500.

Reception for Grant Recipients
Each fall, the association hosts a family reception at OPRFHS in honor of the year's grant recipients, who each give a short “Show and Tell” report about their summer experiences. 

• Architecture Discovery Program: Washington University in St. Louis. Learn about the study and practice of architecture in this two week intensive program.
• Auburn University World Affairs Youth Seminar: Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors interested in multicultural views, international understanding and community service are encouraged to apply. 
• Belmont Basic Business Camp: June 5-11 a residential summer camp for high school students. Designed to improve understanding of basic business concepts and applications through teamwork, simulated competitions and field trips.
• Boston College Summer Experience: Six week summer program for students that have completed 11th grade. Take college level courses in the Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Mathematics or Computer Science for college credit.
• Boston University: Summer Term High School honors program is for credit, while the summer challenge program is noncredit.
• Boston University PROMYS: Six week Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists. 
• Bridge Program in Math and Science at the University of the South: Rising high school seniors of ethnic minority can attend a 3 week summer session on math and science.
• Grinnell College Honors Scholars Program in Mathematics and Science: Students who identify as African-American, Latino, Native American, or Asian American, and who are high school juniors with a demonstrated interest in the sciences are invited to apply for the four-week residential program. Grinnell will offer full scholarships for up to 24 students. Scholarships include tuition, room and board, fees, and round-trip transportation to Grinnell College from the student's home.
• Hollins University: Summer program for high school senior girls. Students take two classes either for credit in Hollins advantage or non-credit in Hollinsummer. Field trips and other activities are planned for weekends.
• Junior Statesmen Summer School; High school freshman, sophomores or juniors with a strong interest in politics are encouraged to apply. College level courses in politics and government offered.
• Murray State Commonwealth Honors Academy: Juniors with a with an ACT of 25 (or equival: ent SAT, PSAT, or PLAN) and other credentials (class rank, extracurricular involvement, recommendations) encouraged to apply. Three weeks of academic enrichment, receive 6 hours of university credit + all participants are awarded a renewable housing scholarship to MSU.
• National Youth Science Camp: Four week program with lectures, seminars, and opportunities to work with scientists from across the nation. Only two students are selected PER STATE.
• Naval Academy Summer Seminar: 6 day program for students who would like to experience the Naval Academy experience first hand.
• Northwestern College Preparation Program: Six to eight weeks as part of the regular summer session classes. Can earn Northwestern academic credit.
• Philips Exeter Academy Summer School: 5 weeks of academic exploration and athletics.
• Pre-College Summer at Brown: Motivated high school students can experience all facets of life on an Ivey League campus.
• Purdue University Summer Academic Camps: Purdue University offers summer academic camps related to a number of different content areas.
• Rochester Institute of Technology Explore Your Future Program: A six day summer career exploration program for students that are deaf or hard of hearing. The program is a chance for students to explore career interests, experience college life, and meet other deaf and hard of hearing students from around the country.
• Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP): College level seminars, not for college credit or grades. 4 locations: Cornell, Michigan, Texas-Austin, and Washington in St. Louis.
• Stanford High School Summer College: Selective 8 week program during the summer. Classes can be taken for credit at Stanford.
• Summer in Switzerland: A summer program offered by the Leysin American School in Switzerland. Course offerings include foreign languages, math, art, world cultures and religions, photography, theater and computer studies.
• United States Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar: An introduction to the academic classes, sports, and physical and military training at West Point. admissions@usma.edu or call 845- 938-4041 for more information.
• University of Mississippi – Summer College Program: Take courses for college credit on campus at Ole Miss. They also offer a Biology in Costa Rica program.
• University of Southern California Summer Seminars: Choose from 18 academic seminars worth 3 university credit hours. Housed in USC dorms, participate in campus activities, visit LA tourist destinations, and experience a month of being a Trojan.
• Vanderbilt University: Summer Session for Talented Youth. This 3-week program includes college level non-credit classes.
• Virginia Tech Computers and Technology Summer Camp: Summer program for juniors and seniors for highly motivated young women who want to explore math, science or engineering.
• Washington University: High School Summer Scholars Program. For more info call 1-866-209-0691.
• Washington Workshops Foundation: 3-6 week internships in congressional or politically related offices in Washington, D.C.
