OPRFHS boasts three excellent performing spaces: the main Auditorium, the Little Theatre, and Studio 200. Each space offers excellent sightlines, state-of-the-art sound systems, and computerized lighting and sound control systems.
Auditorium: With 1600+ seats, the Auditorium (left, at top) is a prime venue for large assemblies, meetings, and productions where large numbers must assemble on stage. A full fly house, complete electrical distribution and control systems, and a brand new sound system that includes portable and fixed speaker arrays and a Mac-based editing console means that most any production needs can be met in this space.
Two musicals are produced each year in the Auditorium—one in early spring and one in July as part of summer school. These large-scale productions bring together the talents of many students, including musicians, dancers, actors, singers, and stage technicians. Recent musicals have included Matilda, Chicago, Urinetown, and Hairspray.
Little Theatre: This intimate, 375-seat theatre (left, middle) is ideal for drama, comedies and small musical productions. Sightlines are excellent, and outstanding acoustics make this space a delightful environment for all audiences. High-quality rigging, lighting control and sound equipment support all the needs of this space.
Four shows each year are produced in the Little Theatre—two each in the fall and spring. All students are encouraged to audition for these shows (there are no requirements other than a willingness to learn), which are selected by their directors from all types and periods of drama. Recent productions have included Clybourne Park, Pygmalion, Playback Theater, and She Kills Monsters.
Studio 200: This unique "black box" theatre (left, bottom) supports a vigorous student-directed program, with four productions held each year Studio 200 seats approximately 100, and is an important training facility for both actors and technical crew.
